My elderly mother stayed here during her visit with me a few blocks away and she loved it. The front desk was extremely helpful with giving her directions, hailing her cabs for her, and were genuinely interested in her stay/life/and experience. Would recommend for locals and visitors alike.

We reserved through expedia and the front desk employee gave us a very indoor looking dark room. I asked specifically buy they did not even offer a better room for extra dollars. The in room dining was quite good, both the quality and the service. We could have stayed for another 3 nights if they had given us the option of other rooms.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Carlyle twice and I will be staying there again in April. The staff at The Carlyle are exceptional and have, thus far, treated me as a VIP. I have traveled all over the world and never have I felt as welcomed and special as I do when I stay at The Carlyle. I’m no where near monogrammed pillow status but I hope to be someday! I love this hotel and will never stay anywhere else in the city!

Booked for special birthday lunch- VERY disappointing- surly waiter- expected high prices but $11 for cup of coffee!? Never again- Food was good and second waiter more pleasant- advertises elegant dress reguired but woman at next table had jeans on- so brought down the expectations

We love New York City. I very rarely write negative reviews. Unfortunately, this is one of the rare times. I will absolutely never go back. They were rude and discriminatory. I was wearing black pants, a sweater, a red pea coat and a pair of white tennis shoes. In the non-hotel guest line, they let the couple directly in front of us in - a woman wearing light blue jeans and tennis shoes. We were next and they told me, I could not enter due to my tennis shoes and pants (which were black dress pants). I have no issues with a dress code but treat everyone the same. I will deter anyone I know from coming here. Too many wonderful places in New York.
